Mr. Andre Matthias is presently the Electricity Business Unit Manager of the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA).  He has a Bachelor of Science degree in 1989 in Electrical and Computing Engineering and a Masters of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering.

Mr. Matthias has held several positions at the APUA throughout his thirty-four years’ career at the Utility. From 1989-1993 he was the Electricity Customer Service Engineer; from 1995- 1997 he was the Electricity System Control/SCADA Engineer; from 1997 - 2004  he was the Electricity Transmission & Distribution Manager;  from 2004 to 2015 he was the  Chief Electrical Engineer, and from March 2015 to Present he is the  Electricity Business Unit Manager of the APUA.

Mr. Matthias has led the efforts of APUA in installing 7MW of solar power in Antigua and 740KW in Barbuda, with peak loads in Antigua and Barbuda being 61MW and 700KW respectively.  He has also managed the interconnection of a total of 3MW Customer Solar systems in Antigua and also managed the installation of the Green Barbuda Hybrid Power Plant.
